The Keeper admits it.
It’s been way too long since we here at the Gaslight posted anything, and for that, we apologize. The new year has been quite busy, yes, even a few months in, and it appears it’s going to stay that way. But I ran across something while watching YouTube a short time ago, and I realized I couldn’t keep this to myself.
It’s a marvelous analysis about good storytelling, especially in movies, and makes you see – if you didn’t already – how Gladiator stepped up in ways many current movies do not. Which is likely why at nearly eighteen years old, Ridley Scott’s masterpiece will continue to be a marvel when a lot of what we see today will be forgotten pretty much the second you walk out of the theater.
I hope you enjoy this as much as I did.
Thank you so much, Tina – definitely a much needed reminder of how great films CAN be and SHOULD be. It seems much of Hollywood has given up trying to find that lightening in a bottle and aimed for just picking up the beer can full of sand. Useful for something right? Oi vey. Anyway, I am long overdue for a viewing of this film. Must be why Ive been pinning so many pics of Pompeii to my Pinterest account of late…I am missing the Gladiator!!
