On June 15th in the year 1215, the document best known as the Magna Carta (Latin for Great Charter) was signed by King John of England at Runnymede near Windsor Castle. This event was portrayed in one of the final scenes of Ridley Scott’s Robin Hood (2010) starring Russell Crowe.
