On this date in the United States, the motion picture 3:10 to Yuma was released. The cast included Oscar winning Australian Russell Crowe as American outlaw Ben Wade and Oscar nominee Christian Bale (a Welshman) as rancher Dan Evans. The movie was both a box office and critical success.

Based on the short story by Elmore Leonard, it was a remake of the classic 1957 Western of the same name, and which starred Glenn Ford and Van Heflin.
