On This Day in 1928…

Today marks the birth in Bluefield, West Virginia of Nobel Prize-winning mathematician John Forbes Nash, who became better-known thanks to not only Sylvia Nasar’s biography A Beautiful Mind, but the 2001 blockbuster and Oscar-winning Best Picture from which it was adapted.

REAL LIFE MOMENT: A Beautiful Mind (May 23rd 2015)

While riding in a taxicab on the New Jersey Turnpike, Nobel Prize winner John Forbes Nash and his wife Alicia are killed in a car crash. Nash was portrayed in an Oscar-nominated performance by Russell Crowe, while Alicia Nash was played by Jennifer Connelly, who won the Oscar for best supporting actress.
