Today In History

Yes, this is a post on history.

Specifically, on Texan history…because without this date and (further dates on March 2 and April 21) the United States would have a vastly different history of its own. Does that sound like the usual Texas bragging y’all have heard about? Sure, it does! But it ain’t bragging if it’s the truth.

Yes, it has been over a year since our last update. Real Life takes precedence. I’m sparing you the details here. Be thankful.

What does this have to do with Russell Crowe?

Not a damn thing.

Well…except for the fact that I think he’d make an AWESOME Samuel Houston aka Father of Texas, aka George Washington (who will always and forever be my Dead Boyfriend), aka “The Raven” (a raven is like a crow…like a writing desk…)

Samuel Houston aka “The Raven”

So here it is, on this date in Texas history, a Declaration of Independence was signed. Sam Houston presided. (It was his birthday, too.)

Addendum: In Chloe’s Field Notes (under Lagniappe) there are some further links to Texas history. Just in case you might be interested…
